Week 4 Davighi "Biosphere"
Biosphere (n): the regions of the surface, atmosphere, and hydrosphere of the earth (or analogous parts of other planets) occupied by living organisms
In a controlled Biosphere, people can increase temperature, cause a drought, or change the atmospheric concentration, and see how the habitat responds.
I chose this word because it is the main topic of our Environmental Science class right now. A group of scientists have built an a Biosphere in the middle of the desert, and are conducting experiments to see what the climate and habitat would have to be to survive on a different planet. I thought it was really interesting that they were creating essentially, a whole new "earth", creating new habitats and seeing how the plants, animals, and natural resources grow and develop over time.
