Yes, I have been singing this song my whole life and never really knew what spangles meant. I remember teachers saying it was called spangled because of the way the flag looked in the sun raised high after victory. I decided to look at the dictionary definition to get a little more understanding and the definition given to me when I was younger is very similar.
